  • Day 01: FLORENCE

Once you arrive in Florence, travel to your hotel located in the heart of Florence’s city center. Once you complete the check-in process, you will have the rest of the afternoon at leisure to start exploring Florence on your own. Consider a romantic stroll along the Arno river or spending some time in the peaceful atmosphere of the Boboli Gardens, which are positioned behind the Pitti Palace. Explore at your own pace before going out for dinner at a local restaurant where you will get your first taste of Tuscan cuisine. Afterwards, return to your hotel for a good night’s rest.

  • Day 02: FLORENCE

Once you finish breakfast at the hotel, meet with your guide for a walking tour of Florence’s historical city center. Spend your morning admiring the works of Renaissance masters that can be observed throughout Florence including the Duomo, Giotto’s Bell Tower, Piazza della Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio. Your guide will provide historical context and fascinating stories illustrating Florence’s history, including dramatic tales of the Medici Family. After the tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant then head to the Accademia Gallery where you will have pre-arranged skip-the-line entrance reservations. The Accademia Gallery hosts a number of fascinating Renaissance works of art, the most famous of which is the David sculpture by Michelangelo. Also of note are several unfinished sculptures by Michelangelo, which allow a glimpse into the master’s creative process. Your time at the museum will be at leisure for you to explore to your heart’s content. In the evening, you will enjoy a very special dinner at a private residence in Florence where you will be treated to an authentic meal by your local hosts who will welcome you as part of their family for the evening. At the end of the dinner, say “arrivederci” to your new friends and return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

  • Day 03: FLORENCE, LUCCA

After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, board the train and head to the city of Lucca for a full day of exploration. A historic city with Etruscan and Roman origins, Lucca is well-renowned for its Medieval city walls which are still intact. Also of note is the Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, the city’s main square which was built upon an Ancient Roman amphitheater and as a result has a unique oval shape. You will have time at leisure to explore the many highlights of Lucca including Piazza Napoleone and the Duomo di San Martino (Lucca’s Cathedral), featuring mismatched pillars that were a result of contest among local artists during the construction of the church. The Cathedral is also home to the Volto Santo di Lucca, which is a crucifix constructed by Nicodemus that is believed to reflect an authentic image of Jesus Christ. For further sightseeing, consider visiting the home of Opera Composer Giacomo Puccini or the Church of San Frediano, which was designed in the Romanesque architectural style. Before leaving Lucca, we recommend taking a stroll along the top of the Medieval city walls, a common pastime among locals and the best way to experience Lucca’s atmosphere. At the end of the day, board the train back to Florence and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel for the night.

  • Day 04: FLORENCE, FIGLINE VALDARNO

Enjoy breakfast and then check out of your hotel. Make your way to the train station and travel through the Tuscan countryside to reach Figline Valdarno where you will check into your next accommodation: a romantic countryside villa dating back to the 14th century. You will have the rest of the afternoon to relax on the grounds of the villa; you may wish to visit the spa or unwind in the beautiful gardens. In the evening, enjoy dinner followed by a peaceful night’s sleep at the hotel.

  • Day 05: FIGLINE VALDARNO, TUSCAN COOKING CLASS

Today you and your spouse will enjoy a very special treat: a hands-on cooking class led by an expert local chef who will share the secrets of Tuscan cuisine with you. As the class progresses, you will follow the instructions of your chef and prepare several Tuscan recipes from scratch. For lunch, enjoy the dishes you created during the class. Afterwards, you will have the rest of your afternoon free to explore the highlights of Figline Valdarno such as the Praetorian Palace. In the evening, enjoy a romantic dinner at a local restaurant tasting a number of Tuscan specialties.

Afterwards, you will visit two local wineries where you will enjoy tours of the vineyards as well as tastings of wines produced directly on the estates. Lastly, make a brief stop in the scenic village of Montefioralle, which was the birthplace of famed explorer Amerigo Vespucci. At the end of this unforgettable day, your driver will drop you off at your hotel in the Chianti area where you will check in. Enjoy a relaxing dinner at a local restaurant then settle in at your hotel for the night.
