Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon to the heart of Italy, creating memories that both of you will cherish for many years to come.
Board your flight and get ready to start your honeymoon!
After landing at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, meet with your private driver who will escort you to your 4-start hotel located in the heart of Rome’s city center. Once you complete check-in, spend the afternoon getting to know some of Rome’s outdoor monuments, such as Piazza Navona, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in all of Rome. This evening, toast to your marriage and honeymoon during a romantic, candlelit dinner at one of the best restaurants in Rome (personal restaurant recommendations are included with every Trips 2 Italy customized travel package). After a memorable dinner, return to your hotel and get a good night’s rest.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing on your first excursion. Today you will travel to the countryside outside of Rome and visit Frascati, an area where local wine has been produced since the time of the Ancient Romans. Tour a traditional wine estate where you will learn more about local production and enjoy a sampling of the area’s best wines. Lunch will be on the grounds of the estate surrounded by scenic panoramas where you will have a chance to relax before returning to Rome later in the afternoon. Upon your return, take advantage of your free time to continue your independent sightseeing. There is much to see and you will find that many iconic monuments are within walking distance of your hotel. Spend some time at the Spanish Steps, marvel at the unique architecture of the Pantheon and toss your coin into the Trevi fountain before returning to the hotel to freshen up before dinner. Once you finish dinner, we recommend taking a romantic stroll along the Tiber River, admiring the beauty of Rome in the moonlight. Stop at a gelateria to taste authentic gelato before leisurely making your way back to the hotel—the perfect ending to a perfect day!
Enjoy a tasty breakfast at your hotel, then depart for the Vatican area where you will have a guided walking tour of the Vatican Museums. From historic Greek sculptures to the stunning frescoes of the Sistine Chapel, a trip to the Vatican is sure to impress. As you make your way through the museums, you will admire many highlights before arriving in St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world. The tour will conclude in the Basilica and you will be able to continue exploring after you part ways with your guide. Do not miss a visit to the crypt underneath the Basilica or your chance to climb to the top of the dome for romantic views of Rome’s skyline.
Once you finish breakfast, check out of your hotel and then make your way to the next stunning destination. Take the high-speed train and head to Florence, famous for its architecture, Renaissance art, and excellent food and wine. After checking into the hotel, the remainder of the day will be free for you to start familiarizing yourself with Florence. For an unforgettable dinner, you have the option of participating in an interactive cooking class led by a local chef who will teach you the ins and outs of pizza making and gelato making (optional activity, can be added upon request). If you prefer to eat rather than cook, stop by a local restaurant to taste some of Florence’s best dishes, such as the Fiorentina Steak.
Today will be dedicated to sightseeing in Florence’s city center. After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you will participate in a guided walking tour that will bring you to discover Florence’s many highlights including Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery, the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence located in the heart of the city. After the tour, stop for a leisurely lunch at a restaurant in the city center. Then in the afternoon visit the Accademia Gallery to admire the famous David Sculpture by Michelangelo. Though a relatively small museum, the Accademia hosts a number of fascinating Renaissance pieces that you may wish to admire. Visit the museum for as long or as little as you want, then continue exploring the city center. Consider stopping for an aperitivo (the Italian Happy Hour) at a bar where you will be able to try local drinks accompanied by a buffet of finger foods. Round out your evening with several scoops of delicious gelato and a moonlit stroll through Florene’s cobblestone streets.
Today is a day that you and your spouse will treasure for years to come. After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you will leave Florence for a full-day excursion to the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Along the way you will admire unbelievable scenery featuring characteristic rolling hills and charming hill top towns. Stop at two Chianti wineries where you will enjoy tours of the grounds, learning about the Tuscan wine traditions and tasting some of the best wine this area has to offer. After an unforgettable day, return to Florence in the evening to enjoy your final dinner in this enchanting city.
Once you finish breakfast, check out of your hotel and then make your way to the train station where you will board the train to Venice, your final base-city during this trip. Upon arrival in Venice, receive the VIP treatment as you meet with a private water taxi driver who will take you down the canals to your hotel located on the main Venice Island. Check into your hotel and drop-off your luggage before joining a brief walking tour of the city center. Follow your guide through the historic streets, called “calli” by the locals, and admire several of Venice’s most important monuments including the Bridge of Sighs, the Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica, one of the most beautiful churches in the world. In the evening, unwind during a romantic dinner where you will have the opportunity to try local delicacies, such as fritto misto, mixed fried seafood.
Today you might be interested in visiting Murano and Burano Island, two smaller islands located in the Venetian Lagoon, during an optional excursion (excursion not included in package, but can be added if requested). Discover the Venetian legacy of artisan craftsmanship as you witness a glass-blowing demonstration on Murano Island and a lace-making demonstration on Burano Island. Additionally, Burano is home to a series of brightly colored buildings resting along the water, offering unique photo opportunities for you and your spouse. In the afternoon, consider taking walk in the Cannaregio district where you can visit a number of smaller shops and experience the authentic atmosphere of Venice. This evening, we suggest taking a ride along the canals in one of the city’s famous gondolas. For unforgettable views and the most romantic atmosphere possible, plan your gondola ride around sunset. Afterwards, enjoy dinner at local restaurant before returning to your hotel to unwind after this memorable evening.
For the final day of your honeymoon, consider an excursion to the historic city of Verona, which served as the setting for Romeo and Juliet . After arriving in Verona by train, meet with your local guide for a walking tour of the city center. During the tour you will cover all of the major highlights including the Arena, an Ancient Roman amphitheater, as well as Piazza Bra, Piazza delle Erbe and Juliet’s balcony. Take a break for lunch and then continue exploring Verona on your own before returning to Venice in the evening. Stop by the hotel to freshen up and then savor your final dinner in this magnificent city, toasting to many years of happiness with your spouse.
Meet with your water taxi driver in the morning and head to Venice airport. The trip may be over, but the photos you took and the memories you made will last a lifetime!
