The itinerary
Francis. Travel through the breathtaking Tuscan countryside to discover the charming medieval city of Siena then take in Florence's famous art and architecture. You will also visit some lesser-known gems along the way with stops in Bologna, renowned for its art, architecture, and culinary traditions, and Padua, with its magnificent Scrovegni Chapel filled with frescoes by Giotto. Last, but certainly not least, is the mesmerizing city of Venice where you will have the opportunity to explore the winding streets, admire the beautiful art and architecture, and perhaps enjoy a romantic gondola ride through the picturesque canals. Italy offers something for everyone and during this escorted tour you are guaranteed to create lasting memories as you visit Florence, Venice and more.
DAY 01: ROME, ASSISI, SIENA, FLORENCE
In the early morning, board the motor coach in the historical center of Rome and depart on your adventure through Italy. The first stop will be in charming Assisi, where you'll have free time to wander the historic streets. We suggest stopping by the Basilica of St. Francis to admire the beautiful frescoes as well as take in the captivating views of the surrounding countryside from the church's hilltop position. After you enjoy lunch (not included) the tour will continue through the Tuscan hill country. Next stop will be the enchanting city of Siena, known for its rich medieval history and the Palio horse race held in the famous Piazza del Campo. You'll want to take plenty of pictures here as you stroll through the lovely cobblestone streets. Later in the afternoon, the bus will continue to Florence, where you'll have dinner and get a good night's rest.
DAY 02: FLORENCE
Enjoy a nice breakfast to prepare you for a pleasant day of sightseeing and then you will take in the highlights of Florence's city center during a walking tour. Called the Cradle of the Renaissance, you will marvel at Florence's art, architecture and churches created by the Masters. You'll stop at the Duomo to admire the iconic dome designed by Brunelleschi as well as Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery, with doors so beautiful that Michelangelo called them the Gates of Paradise. Other tour highlights include the Piazza Della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and the Santa Croce Basilica. Lunch on your own (not included). The afternoon will be at your leisure, where you can choose to shop or visit the Accademia Gallery with the famous David by Michelangelo or the Uffizi Gallery (optional, not included; skip the line reservations recommended and can be arranged separately upon request). You may decide you'd rather go on an optional tour of Pisa, and see its famous Leaning Tower and adjoining Cathedral and Piazza dei Miracoli (optional, not included). In the evening you'll enjoy dinner and a final night in Florence.
DAY 03: FLORENCE, BOLOGNA, PADUA, VENICE
After breakfast we'll head to Bologna, a historic city with breathtaking architecture and an amazing culinary tradition. While in Bologna you will have the chance to admire many of its wonders including the Podesta' Palace, Piazza del Nettuno and the Basilica of San Petronio. After lunch (not included), you'll continue on to Padua, home to many beautiful churches and the oldest botanical garden in the world. You'll stop at the Basilica of St. Anthony, with its many lovely frescoes. Afterwards, we'll head to Venice, famous for its unique beauty, art and gondolas. Your time in Venice will be at leisure to explore the city center and take in all of its beauty during an unforgettable gondola ride through the famous canals. You'll have dinner on your own then spend the night in Venice.
DAY 04: VENICE
After breakfast at the hotel, end of the tour and our services.
