The itinerary
During the tour, travelers would have the opportunity to visit the Vatican Gardens, Villa Farnese and Villa Lante with their elegant gardens and fountains. Also included in the itinerary are two fine examples of Tuscan villas: Villa Gamberaria and Villa Peyron in the hills outside of Florence. In your free time, you will be able to visit the famous historical monuments of the city centers of Rome and Florence as well. Take in the beauty of Italy's most opulent villas and expansive gardens during this independent travel package featuring Rome and Florence.
Day 01: ROME
Arrival in Rome and transfer to the hotel on your own. There will be free time for you to start discovering the city until the evening, when you'll meet with your tour assistant who will provide information regarding your travel itinerary. You will spend the night at the hotel in Rome.
Day 02: ROME
You will have breakfast at the hotel to get ready for a day in the Eternal City. In the morning you will visit the Vatican Gardens, a private meditation site for the Popes since 1279. In the afternoon you will have free time to enjoy Rome at your own pace. Discover the beautiful fountains and squares of Rome, admire the Colosseum and the Roman Fora, visit the breathtaking Sistine Chapel in the Vatican Museums or simply relax with a delicious gelato in front of the Trevi Fountain. You will enjoy dinner at your hotel and spend the night in Rome.
Day 03: ROME, VILLA FARNESE IN CAPRAROLA, VILLA LANTE IN BAGNAIA, FLORENCE
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Rome and transfer to Florence. On the journey north, crossing beautiful country landscapes, we will stop to visit the Villa Farnese complex and Gardens in Caprarola and the Gardens of Villa Lante in Bagnaia. Though these two fine examples of architecture were built during the same period and are both located in the Viterbo area, they are completely different: the first, Villa Lante, is a marvel of water architecture designed by Tommaso Chiruchi, and especially noted for its gardens. Villa Farnese, on the other hand, was designed to be a fortress, complete with a moat and drawbridges. In any case, these impressive villas with their elegant gardens and beautiful water features and grottoes will leave you with unforgettable memories. The journey will continue along the hill country towards your hotel in Florence where you will have dinner with your party and spend the night.
Day 04: VILLA GAMBERARIA, VILLA PEYRON AL BOSCO IN FIESOLE
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then you'll spend the rest of the day touring two beautiful villas around Florence. The Gardens of Villa Gamberaia are a nice example of architecture and landscape combining over the course of 300 years, from the seventeenth century to the twentieth century. From the gardens, you will have a wonderful view of the city of Florence and the Arno River Valley. In the afternoon, you will have time to visit Villa Peyron al Bosco di Fontelucente in the Fiesole Hills. This is a splendid example of a Tuscan villa nestled between olive groves and woods with a very elegant garden and a breathtaking view over Florence and Castel di Poggio, an enchanting medieval castle. Return to your hotel to enjoy your dinner and get a peaceful night's sleep.
Day 05: FLORENCE
After a good Italian breakfast at the hotel, you'll have a free day to explore Florence. Called the "Cradle of the Renaissance", you'll marvel at the magnificent works of art and architecture, including the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the Baptistery, with doors so lovely that Michelangelo likened them to the Gates of Heaven. You will also be able to admire Michelangelo’s famous David sculpture at the Accademia Gallery, visit the Uffizi Gallery or enjoy some relaxation in the Boboli Gardens. You may want to consider a side trip to Pisa or Lucca (optional activities not included). Dinner on your own and overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 06: FLORENCE
After breakfast, our services will end.
