The itinerary
Explore local highlights such as the coastal towns of Amalfi and Ravello, taste the world-famous Limoncello liqueur straight from the source, learn the art of making fresh pasta and fresh pizza following local traditions, spend a day admiring the beautiful island of Capri, and much more. Along the way you will have plenty of time at leisure for independent sightseeing, shopping, or relaxing at the beach. Come discover what makes the Amalfi Coast such a coveted vacation destination!
Day 1 – NAPLES/AMALFI COAST
Benvenuti in Italia! Upon your arrival in Naples-Capodichino Airport, you will meet your tour leader and transfer to your hotel along the Amalfi Coast. You will have the rest of the day at leisure to relax or explore the breathtaking Amalfi Coast independently. Then, in the afternoon, enjoy a welcome cocktail with your tour leader and participate in a tour orientation. In the evening, you will enjoy a welcome dinner at your first class hotel. (D)
Day 2 – AMALFI COAST (AMALFI/RAVELLO)
Today after breakfast, you will meet your tour leader and enjoy a guided excursion along the Amalfi Coast, lovingly referred to by many as the “divine coast”. First, you will visit the hillside town of Ravello, famous for Villa Rufolo, a building with breathtaking gardens dating back to the 13th century. Next, you will travel to Amalfi and marvel at its historical city center. While here, you may wish to enter both Saint Andrea Cathedral as well as the Cloister of Paradise. In the evening, you will enjoy dinner at your hotel. (B) (D)
Day 3 – AMALFI COAST/MINORI
After breakfast at your hotel, your first stop of the day will be at a local “Limoncello” producer. Invented in Italy and then spread to other parts of the world, Limoncello is a lemon liqueur, after-dinner drink. You will have the opportunity to try this popular drink as well as acquire knowledge regarding the tradition of Limoncello production in the area. Then, you may wish to walk independently through the village of Minori, a scenic town known for the ruins of a Roman villa. Stop and chat with the friendly locals and choose one of several typical restaurants in the area to have a wonderful meal. In the evening, you will return to your hotel and enjoy dinner. Afterwards, you will have the unique opportunity to become a gourmet pasta chef as a “Master Pastaio” will teach you the art of making pasta. (B) (D)
Day 4 – AMALFI COAST
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, you will learn exactly why the Amalfi Coast is known worldwide for its ceramics and vibrant pottery. You will visit a local ceramics factory and directly witness the skill required to engage in this delicate art form. In the evening you will return to your hotel for dinner. Afterwards, you will continue to expand your cooking skills by attending a pizza-making demonstration complete with a late night tasting! (B) (D)
Day 5 – AMALFI COAST/CAPRI
Eat a hearty breakfast at your hotel to prepare for an entire day on the island of Capri. Your tour leader will guide you throughout this day-long excursion. You will board a hydrofoil boat from the pier and then travel to Capri, a resort island in the Gulf of Naples famous for its natural landscape since the time of the ancient Romans. When you arrive, you will take the “funicolare”, a cable railway, and then enjoy a walking tour of Capri’s center. Next, you will have the option to relax at the Gardens of Augustus where you will also be able to see the famous “Faraglioni”, the iconic coastal rock formations off the coast of Capri. Afterwards, you will have some time on your own to further discover the beauty of this island by strolling through its streets, shopping for handmade sandals in elegant shops, or simply taking it easy and enjoying a gelato or an espresso. In the evening you will return to your hotel for dinner and afterwards you will partake in a second Limoncello tasting (because one is just not enough!). (B) (D)
Day 6 – AMALFI COAST
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then you will have the rest of the day at your leisure to sightsee, shop, or relax. In the evening you will return to your hotel for dinner, after which you will discover what a local dessert called Baba’ is all about (it is sometimes combined with Limoncello, so it has to be good!). Day 7 – AMALFI COAST/SORRENTO/POSITANO
Your final experience on the Amalfi Coast during this trip will be one last full-day excursion led by your tour leader, this time to the towns of Sorrento and Positano. Sorrento is home to many stylish boutiques as well as typical shops were local artisans have their goods for sale. During the time of the Romans, Sorrento was adored by the noblemen who constructed stunning villas throughout the area. In modern times, Sorrento has become a captivating city synonymous with elegance. As you walk through the streets of Sorrento you will find the picturesque “piazzetta” adorned with various citrus trees. For foodies, the many varieties of local pastries are definitely worth a taste as is the homemade gelato and “espresso Napoletano”. When you are finished exploring Sorrento, you will move on to the town of Positano, situated in a breathtaking valley. You will see Positano’s principal church when you arrive in the town’s historical center. The dome of the church will catch your eye immediately because of its multi-colored “maiolica” pottery composition. In the evening, you will attend a farewell dinner that will feature music and entertainment to celebrate your time in the spectacular Amalfi Coast as you enjoy one last typical meal. (B) (D)
Day 8 – AMALFI COAST/NAPLES/USA
In the early morning you will transfer to Naples-Capodichino Airport and board your return flight home. Arrivederci!
