The itinerary
Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace. Take some time to stroll through Venice's winding streets on your own to visit local markets or shop for artisan crafts. You will then have time at leisure to explore Lake Como and all of its beauty. This part of Italy has attracted domestic and international travelers for centuries and thanks to its tranquil waters, verdant landscapes and snow-capped mountains it's easy to understand why. Featuring one of Italy's most iconic cities and one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, this 11 day travel package is a great option for travelers seeking to spend a relaxing vacation in northern Italy.
Day 01: OUT-BOUND FLIGHT
Board your overnight flight to Italy.
Day 02: VENICE
Arrive in Venice, Italy. Upon your arrival at Venice Airport, board your pre-arranged water taxi to the hotel and complete check in. Spend the rest of the day exploring the streets of Venice.
Day 03: VENICE
After breakfast at the hotel, start your morning with a walking tour of Venice's city center. Make your way through the local "calli" (narrow streets) through the historical city center exploring various landmarks including St. Mark’s Basilica, The Doge's Palace, the Prisons and the Bridge of Sighs. You will have the rest of the day free to continue exploring on your own.
Day 04: VENICE
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then consider traveling to Murano Island and visiting a Glass Workshop. During the visit you will have the chance to observe a local artisan craft a masterpiece out of glass. Another option could be to visit Burano Island to learn about lace-making and snap photos of the colorful buildings. You could also continue to explore other highlights of Venice's city center, such as the market area or the Guggenheim Museum. No matter what you choose, we know you'll enjoy your time in Venice!
Day 05: VARENNA, LAKE COMO
After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and then pick up your rental car. Your final destination will be Varenna, a charming town on the shores of Lake Como, but along the way you may wish to make a stop or two. A few ideas include Padua, the city of Saint Anthony, Verona with its remarkable Arena amphitheater or Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy.
Days 06 -07: VARENNA, LAKE COMO
Spend two unforgettable days taking in panoramic views and enjoying all that Lake Como has to offer. Take the steamboat across the lake to experience stunning vistas of beautiful villas and majestic mountains. Be sure to stop by other lakeside towns such as Bellagio, Tremezzo and Lenno. There is much to see and you will be in control of how you spend your time during this part of the trip.
Days 08-10: CERNOBBIO, LAKE COMO
Your final stop on will be the town of Cernobbio, positioned on the other side of the lake. Check into the hotel and then you will have further time at leisure to explore independently. Consider spending a day in Como to visit its museums or to shop for silk at its boutiques (silk has been made here for centuries). Another option would be to head to the Swiss border and spend a day visiting the town of Lugano and its lake. There is plenty to see and you certainly will not be bored during your time in Lake Como!
Day 11: RETURN FLIGHT
Drive to Milan Malpensa Airport to drop off your rental car and then board your return flight. End of our services.
