The itinerary
Marks Square and the Doge's Palace. You will have plenty of time to visit the main landmarks as well as enjoy time at leisure to visit the museums or take a romantic gondola ride down the Grand Canal. Upon arrival in Lake Como, be sure to soak up the relaxing atmosphere of the lake and then spend your days exploring the quaint lakeside towns via ferry boat. As a haven for many artists, celebrities and travelers of all kinds over the centuries, Lake Como is the perfect end to any vacation. This 11 day travel itinerary featuring the wonders of Venice, the Floating City, and the natural beauty of Lake Como gives travelers the flexibility to explore these unforgettable areas at their own pace.
Day 01: OUT-BOUND FLIGHT
Board your overnight flight to Italy.
Day 02: VENICE
Arrive in Venice, Italy. Upon your arrival at Venice Airport, you will be transferred by water taxi to your hotel where you will check in. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to relax and get acquainted with the Floating City.
Day 03: VENICE
After a good and healthy Italian breakfast, the day begins with a Half Day guided walking tour of Venice. Strolling through the typical, narrow streets (called "calli"), the tour takes you into the historical center of the city and its magnificent monuments: St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, The Doge's Palace, the historical Prisons and the Bridge of Sighs. You will have the rest of the day at leisure to shop and enjoy a meal of fresh seafood.
Day 04: VENICE
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and afterwards you may wish to take an excursion to Murano Island to visit a Glass workshop, watching as local artisans create a piece of glass art, or go to Burano Island, which is renowned for its lace-making tradition and colorful buildings. You could also discover some of Venice's secrets on your own: visit the Guggenheim Museum, stop by the old markets or enjoy a walk across the Rialto Bridge. However you choose to spend the day, Venice is sure to enchant!
Day 05: VARENNA, LAKE COMO
After your last Venetian breakfast, pick up your rental car and travel to Lake Como's town of Varenna. En-route you may stop in Padua to visit the Basilica of Saint Anthony, or in Verona to see the famous Arena amphitheater and the balcony of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, or visit the ancient city of Bergamo and its walled hilltop medieval center. Another option could be to stop for a brief lunch on the shores of Lake Garda, Italy's largest lake.
Days 06 -07: VARENNA, LAKE COMO
Relax and spend your days enjoying the breathtaking view of the Alps and Lake Como. While in Varenna, we recommend riding on the steamboat across the lake to admire the spectacular sight of the mountains and the beautiful villas with their elegant gardens. You could also take a ferry to the famous town of Bellagio or another picturesque lakeside town such as Tremezzo or Lenno, there are not any wrong choices when it comes to Lake Como's quaint and scenic towns.
Days 08-10: CERNOBBIO, LAKE COMO
Drive to the town of Cernobbio and check into your hotel to spend the next few days discovering of the other side of the lake. Lake Como has been a premiere destination for celebrities and artists for centuries, and, who knows, during your time here you may come across George Clooney or his celebrity guests at his villa! From Cernobbio, you are perfectly positioned to drive to the refined city of Como and explore its wonderful monuments and museums or simply sit down and enjoy the beautiful sights and shop for silks in the unique boutiques. You could drive to the nearby border with Switzerland for a visit of Lake Lugano and its surroundings. This itinerary is designed to allow for maximum flexibility giving you the chance to decide how you prefer to spend your last few days in Lake Como.
Day 11: RETURN FLIGHT
Return your car at Milan Malpensa Airport then board your flight back home. End of our services.
