The itinerary
In Pompeii, you'll have a chance to visit the famous archaeological site as well as tour a coral and cameo factory for an inside look at the craftsmanship in the area. The gorgeous and charming town of Sorrento offers stunning views of the Bay of Naples from the Sorrentine Peninsula. A guided tour of the Island of Capri will reveal the magical Blue Grotto, the famous Augustus Gardens and the amazing Piazzetta, the heart of the island. Finally, a driving tour of the Amalfi Coast gives vacationers spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea followed by an opportunity to explore the area on foot and visit local shops, restaurants, and landmarks. Pack your sunglasses, bathing suit, and be ready to take some amazing photos of Italy's sunny southern coast.
DAY 01: ROME-NAPLES-POMPEII-SORRENTO
The first day of your journey begins in the romantic city of Rome, where you will meet early in the morning in the city center and travel to Naples by motor coach. Upon arrival, enjoy a walking tour of Naples' city center with stops at the San Carlo Opera House, which is one of the oldest opera houses in Europe, as well as the Royal Palace, the Galleria of Umberto I and Piazza del Plebiscito. Once we finish in Naples, a short trip to Pompeii is in order. Here you will be able to admire the impressive ruins of this ancient Roman city destroyed during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Enjoy the cuisine of this area at a local restaurant, then take a tour of a coral and cameo factory before the group proceeds to Sorrento. This beautiful town located on the Sorrentine Peninsula offers views of majestic cliffs and the Bay of Naples. Enjoy your first evening in this charming coastal town with dinner at the hotel before the night’s rest.
DAY 02 – SORRENTO-CAPRI-SORRENTO
The second day starts off with a complimentary American style breakfast provided by the hotel, followed by a departure to the small island of Capri via a local ferry. Here, a splendid tour of the Blue Grotto will be taken via rowboat, weather and sea conditions permitting. This natural spectacle consists of a variety of underwater caverns that are tinted a beautiful hue of blue as the suns rays hit the water, making it a favorite attraction among many visitors. The tour will then proceed to the Augustus Gardens, plush gardens established by Friedrich Alfred Krupp and built to compliment the natural beauty of the island of Capri. The last stop will be at the famous Piazzetta. With its charming pavement cafes that attract the rich and famous, this lively square is the center of social life in Capri. A minibus will then take you to Anacapri, a small township at the northern tip of the island, and then return you to the Marina Grande for the ferry ride back to the mainland. Relish one more evening with dinner at your Sorrento hotel.
DAY 03 – SORRENTO-AMALFI
After breakfast at your hotel, depart to Amalfi by traveling along the winding Amalfi Coast, which showcases exquisite views of Mediterranean Sea and the beautiful cliffs. When you arrive in Amalfi, check in to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure to explore as you wish. A hotel shuttle bus is available to take you to the private beach for those looking to take advantage of a sunny day. Other attractions such as the center of Amalfi with shopping, restaurants, and entertainment are all within walking distance of the hotel. Dinner and an overnight stay will be provided at the hotel.
DAY 04 – AMALFI
njoy an American style buffet breakfast to start off your last day in the city of Amalfi. Today is dedicated to your own adventures and free time is available throughout the day to explore the unique city and its colorful attractions. There will be plenty of opportunities for shopping, relaxation, exploration, and swimming. Many choose to visit the hilltop village of Positano, or the lush gardens of Ravello, which you may wish to explore on your own. A pleasant dinner and a peaceful night’s stay will be provided at the hotel.
DAY 05 – AMALFI-POMPEII-ROME
The last day is reserved for those final few hours of exploration on your own. After a buffet style breakfast is served, the morning hours are available to you to visit any last minute attractions or locations you may have missed the previous day. You will then meet back at the hotel at in the afternoon for the approximately six hour ride back to Rome via Pompeii. Upon arrival in Rome, the tour and our services will end.
