Travel Guide & Information of Molise Italy Photo Gallery Campobasso

This description page of Molise, region Of Italy, will guide you in planning your trip to Italy and help you to find useful travel information about this Italian Region.

Molise is a region of hills and mountains which faces the Adriatic Sea, and is located north of the Gargano promontory. It is a continuation of Abruzzo’s landscape, and in fact Abruzzo and Molise constituted a single administrative district until 1963. Among the southern regions, it is one of the richest in waterways, which cross the land from the Apennine watershed to the Adriatic Sea. Other rivers, tributaries of Volturno, flow into the Tyrrhenian Sea, after crossing the region of Campania.
The capital of Molise is Campobasso, with its evocative tangle of historic streets and the fifteenth-century Monforte castle. The mountains are majestic, such as the Matese’s massif and the ski resort Campitello. On the East coastline, on the Adriatic Sea, there is Termoli, an ancient sea village where one can take a boat to the Termiti islands.
The rural life, the variety of dialects, the old traditions and customs preserve Molise as one of Italy’s last frontiers.
