Culture of Rapallo Liguria Italy - Travel guide & Information Photo Gallery Rapallo Rapallo Cinque Terre Cinque Terre Portofino Genoa

This description page of Rapallo, in the Italian region of Liguria, will guide you in planning your trip to Italy and help you find useful travel information about the culture of this Italian city.

Begin to explore the traditions of Rapallo with a walk on the promenade amidst the palm and olive-trees.   From here, a wonderful view of the entire bay can be enjoyed as well as the beautiful colored buildings housing cafes, hotels and restaurants that make up the ancient center of town.  On the other side are the sea, the luxurious medieval castle and the grand port.

It is said that Rapallo was the home of the Liguri Tigulli in pre-Roman times, which gave their name to the Gulf of Tigullio that protects the ancient town, and that Hannibal passed through the area on his way to the Alps.  A single-span bridge on the eastern side of the bay is named after Hannibal to mark this event.

Today, the tow's harbor is filled with yachts, visitors and those who cannot resist the beauty, antiquity, and gracious hospitality that have been maintained through the centuries.  It is a town of both reveling celebrations and peaceful moments by the sea.
